Dr. Rose is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervision Designation, a National Certified Counselor, and an EMDR Certified Therapist

Dr. Rose has 30 years of experience in various helping-profession roles, including over 15 of clinical mental health work in both community mental health and private practice settings. He holds a doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision, and a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, both from the University of Toledo. An Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for Bowling Green State University’s Clinical Mental Health and School Counseling Programs, Dr. Rose still has a passion for working directly with clients. That is why he is continues to provide adult, clinical counseling services part-time. He views individuals from a developmental approach, recognizing we all develop into the people we are; and how all of us sometimes need assistance in making positive changes or adjustments for our wellbeing.

An Affirmative Therapist and Supervisor, he is integrative in his clinical theory and techniques. Dr. Rose views the therapeutic relationship as a team approach, where is he a tool for clients to utilize in achieving their full potential, improvement, healing, and overall wellness. Clinically, Dr. Rose’s areas of expertise include LGBQQIAAPP+ and Trans/Gender Expansive, varied-relationship orientations, HIV/AIDS, trauma, mood, personality, HIV/AIDS, and human trafficking. In addition to psychotherapy services, he is available for physiological, personality, and career assessment services.

Dr. Rose has produced more than 40 publications in peer-reviewed journals, books, state-wide education curricula, and public media outlets; provided over 130 conference presentations and educational trainings at regional, state, national, and international arenas; a frequent keynote and workshop presenter; and given more than 3-dozen educational television and radio broadcasts. He continues to provide service leadership for professional and community organizations, including as the Past President (2018-2019) for the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE) and Past Co-Chair (2016-2019) for the Lucas County Human Trafficking Coalition (LCHTC), where he remains a member of the Executive Committee.
